Where Will You Be Sunday Watching Town?

I am based here in the Netherlands and if I was to venture out, I would head to the Blarney Stone on the Nieuwendijk in Amsterdam – or perhaps if it was not on there, The Globe off the Zeedijk.

I think however, as I live in Lelystad, where the only game you are likely to see on a Sunday is Ajax or Feyenoord in a bar, I will probably watch it live on Sky because the coverage is usually excellent – even if often the result is not. Don’t be too surprised if George Burley is again in the studio for this one!

If you are inclined to listen to it on the radio then I strongly recommend the coverage you can expect from Radio Suffolk. Brenner Whooley is an outstanding commentator and has spent many years behind the mic suffering with the Blues but his views are always balanced.

The supplementary match analysis is usually orchestrated by former Ipswich and England captain Mick Mills – or occasionally Alex Mathie and of course Graeme Mac ties up the loose ends in the studio in what is a very well oiled machine and one of the most professional football broadcasts heard on local radio in my view and I strongly recommend it.

But Ipswich Town fans can be found all over the planet from as far afield as Canada or Australia but the one thing we all have in common is our desire for the Town to be victorious!

When games are on Sky, Town supporters from around the world unite in a collective desire to see the Blues in action and it gives life-long supporters, who have moved to pastures new, a chance to see the team they love.

Just because a person leaves his home territory does not make him any less of a supporter – even if going to a game becomes sadly a much rarer experience because of the overall cost of getting there!

People living abroad will get the chance to see Town a regular basis next season thankfully, when the EFL provides live streams of every non-televised game from the start of 2017/18!

This is great news for supporters who have to normally make do with a few televised games per season and in the long term, it will benefit the clubs as well and give some long lost supporters the chance to rekindle their appetite for the club they once adored.
