Results of latest poll on the out-of-contract players at Ipswich Town
With over 20 Ipswich Town players out of contract in the summer, is it time for a clearout at Portman Road? That’s what Vital Ipswich has been asking you this week.
This summer could see plenty of wheeling and dealing for Ipswich, but Paul Jewell will need to spend a while negotiating with his own players first. For whatever reason, a serious contract crisis has emerged at Portman Road, with a significant number of first team regulars, fringe players and youngsters currently set to leave the club in the summer – including captain David Norris, whose stalled negotiations have been well documented.

With Jewell likely to have plans to shape his own team in the summer, many of these players will most likely be leaving the club. The question is how many – and indeed, who?

Whilst it does not look like fans would approve of a total clearout, the vast majority voted for between a quarter and half of these players to be released in the summer. Only 19% were prepared to see more than three quarters stay, though fewer still voted for more than half to go, suggesting that more Blues fans would prefer to stick with what they’ve got where possible. Of course, the ultimate decision will fall to the manager, but he will face a tough task in deciding where to draw the line.
