Thank Heavens For Marcus Evans

Club owners are under a lot of pressure at the moment, but it seems that most Town fans are still prepared to give Marcus Evans the benefit of the doubt. Posts on both the Those Were The Days Website and the East Anglian Daily Times have been largely positive towards this reclusive man, and even former Blues captain Matt Holland reminded us that without his support the club would be truly doomed, as administration loomed once again.

Speaking to the official club website he said boldly, ” I know Marcus Evans has got his critics but if he wasn’t at Ipswich now and putting money he does into the club, I’d hate to think what would happen.” And of course, Holland makes a good point. We all tend to forget what a miserable position we found ourselves in twelve and a half years ago and at the time, Evans was seen as our saviour. An awful lot of water has gone under the bridge since though I must add.

But today Evans spoke to supporters again via official sources and said that the club had been working on a make-good plan for all those who had season tickets – or had bought match tickets for those games missed. Season ticket holders who have renewed will be allowed to choose from five possible options.

a) Donate the money to the Club for use in the Academy or ITFC Community Trust. As a thank you to those taking up this option, the Club will issue you with ‘cash’ vouchers for use at the stadium to the value of 50% of your donation value. So if for example, your donation value is £100, we will issue you with £50 in vouchers.

b) A pro-rata credit to the value of six League matches (rather than five) will be added to your online account to be used towards match tickets, memberships and events for 2020/21.

c) ‘Cash’ vouchers for use at the Planet Blue store, at the stadium for food and beverages, for tickets at the matchday ticket office and for matchday hospitality. The Club will add 25% on top of the refund value of the five missed games so for anyone entitled to – for example, a £100 refund – will instead be issued with £125 in vouchers.

d) A refund for the cancelled five games repayable across your remaining direct debit payments for 2020/21 in equal instalments.

e) A 50/50 option. Donate 50% of the refund to the Club for use in the Academy or ITFC Community Trust. You will also receive a 50% cash refund repayable across your remaining direct debit payments for 2020/21 in equal instalments. As a thank you to those taking up this option, the Club will issue you with ‘cash’ vouchers for use at the stadium to the value of 25% of your donation value. So if for example, your donation value is £100, we will issue you with £25 in vouchers.

It will be interesting to see what most supporters will go for and so far there has been a broad range of opinions on the subject but they have been largely positive.

There are a series of other options for season ticket holders who have already paid in full, and for season ticket holders who have not yet renewed so I guess you could argue that there is something for everyone. here.

Wallingford Boy posted on the TWTD website that he was grateful. Seems very reasonable. Let’s just hope ST holders do their bit now to support the club financially, and Bergholt Blue was equally appreciative posting, Can’t moan at this well done ITFC.
Option B is great for me. You can have the money back that way. And finally, another positive post from Wickets who remarked, Personally I think its time for everyone who calls themselves a fan and can afford to, supports the club and not just the season ticket holders.

I am sure this will be music to the ears of Marcus Evans as he strives to keep this club afloat.
