Vital poll reveals Ipswich fans willing to see Scotland leave at the end of the season

Should he stay or should he go – that’s what we’ve been asking Ipswich Town fans about striker Jason Scotland in our latest Vital Ipswich poll.

Scotland signed for Roy Keane back in August 2010 with the promise of goals having been prolific in the Championship with former club Swansea City a few years ago. Following a poor season at Wigan Athletic however, the 31-year-old has struggled to find the net with the kind of regularity he once did at this level, and with his former employers Swansea having looked to resign the striker on loan, Scotland’s future at Portman Road has been in some doubt.

We asked you therefore whether you thought Jason Scotland should stay or go, and if so, when. Here’s what you said:

37% – Stay at Ipswich
7% – Go, but only on loan
56% – Go, permanently in the summer

It’s safe to say that most Town fans aren’t overly impressed about the idea of Scotland being allowed to rejoin the Swans on loan. However, faced with the prospect of him either staying permanently or leaving permanently, over half of the voters said that the Trinidadian should go once and for all in the summer. Scotland was something of a controversial signing in the first place given his age and his poor spell at Wigan, but despite currently sitting joint-top of Town’s scoring charts with 9 league goals this season, only 37% voted in favour of him remaining at Portman Road beyond the end of the season. After netting twice in three matches however, perhaps a few more goals might yet change those opinions…

This week’s poll: ‘How many of Ipswich’s 20+ out-of-contract players do you think Jewell should release this summer?’ (See right-hand column to place your vote)
