Sonko – Sack Ipswich Players Not Manager

Ipswich players should be sacked instead of the maager if the team’s appalling run continues.

That is the view of Ibrahima Sonko, one of the few players who have shown whole-hearted commitmnet even if he has been at fault for some of the recently conceded golas.

Signed after being released by Reading Sonko had to do a bit of a sales job on Jewell to join Town following a trial.

Now the centre-half is backing the boss ahead of today’s game at Barnsley where Town hope to avoid their eighth straight loss.

Sonko told itfc.co.uk:”Unfortunately, if things don`t work out, the manager is the one that pays the price in these situation.

‘That is not fair though because if there is someone to sack right now it is all the players, I don`t think the manager is to blame. We need to produce for him.

“If you are going to sack him then you may as well sack the whole team because we are right behind him.’

Jewell signed 14 of the players in the squad and many texted the manager aplogising and offering support following their latest defeat and they are not playing under a fear regime.

He added: “Jewell has been perfect with us in my eyes.

‘He knows the time to criticise and he knows the time to say ‘the game has gone, let`s move on`.

‘He has actually remained very balanced, and regular and positive.

“The manager has made sure that the team is still happy and smiley. He comes in and is positive every morning and that means it is not a scary position for us because we continue believe we have to quality to get back to winning ways.”

If Town continue to be so poor then Sonko’s wish may come true, but Jewell will swiftly follow as the owner runs out of patience.
