Ipswich Town striker Jason Scotland has been given permission to return to former club Swansea City on loan, according to reports.

Rumours had emerged back in January that Scotland could be set for a return to the Liberty Stadium having found his first team chances limited under new manager Paul Jewell. The Trinidad striker was only signed by Roy Keane back in August 2010, since which time he has netted 7 league goals for the Blues.

Sources close to the club and the player himself have reportedly revealed that Jewell has cleared the way for the 31-year-old to leave Portman Road on loan, with Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers having previously confirmed his interest in signing the man who scored 45 times in two years with the Swans. Jewell appears to have settled with using Tamas Priskin and Connor Wickham in recent weeks, though it would be a surprise if a replacement for Scotland is not lined up given the lack of additional options up front.

How would you feel about Scotland leaving the club on loan, or indeed permanently? Dou you think he should still have a future at Town, or do we have better options? Have your say on this story by joining Vital Ipswich:
