Tamas Priskin won’t be leaving Portman Road just yet.

The Hungarian international has been subject of much speculation over his future, with QPR and Charlton both interested. But Roy Keane says he doesn’t want to let the 23-year-old go and will give him more of a chance in the first team, despite seeing his £1.7 million summer signing score just twice.

‘Tamas is going nowhere and is staying at the football club. He deserves a chance and I think he’s a talented player,’ confirmed the Blues gaffer.

‘Some players take longer than others to settle in. I think our fans have been very, very patient with Tamas so far, and maybe we all have to be a little more patient with him.’

Roy also admitted he was partly responsible for Priskin’s lack of form: ‘Sometimes, it’s up to me and my coaching staff to get a little bit more out of him. Tamas is going to be a part of our squad. Definitely.’

Keano revealed he has had enquiries over his availability, but after much consideration, decided that Tamas will be best off at Portman Road.

He continued: ‘Tamas is a player we’ve obviously gauged and we’ve had plenty of enquiries about him but I made a decision the other night.

‘My gut feeling is that he’s going to stay with us. He has missed out on a few squads, and he hasn’t had that many minutes on the pitch.

‘We all need to be a little patient. I know there comes a point when the patience runs out but he deserves more of an opportunity and he’s going to get that with all the games coming up.’
