The 2014/15 championship season moved into the second weekend with Ipswich in action again, away from home on this occasion.

Victory to start the campaign against Fulham was forgotten when Ipswich were beaten 1-0 at Reading on Saturday afternoon.

And we think that we have problems, such are Reading’s injury issues they included 12 players in the matchday 18 that had come through the academy but this didn’t have too much of an impact as Simon Cox had a chance within 20-seconds! Fortunately his effort lacked power and Dean Gerken saved easily.

Ipswich controlled much of the half though with Luke Hyam and former Reading man Jay Tabb both having chances but Luke Chambers came closest of all but Jordan Obita blocked his effort on the line with David McGoldrick looking to force home the rebound.

Missed chances cost Town when Paul Taylor (26) got to the ball ahead of Gerken to put the home side ahead, with a one-nil lead taken into the break.

Christophe Berra headed wide early in the second half with Tabb providing plenty of ammunition for players but the finishing touches couldn’t be found.

McGoldrick had chance but couldn’t take them, once when he was denied by a last ditch Michael Hector tackle with Conor Sammon coming on in his place for the final 20-minutes to offer something different.

A last minute Tyrone Mings header looked like it would gain us a point, which we probably deserved, but Shaun Cummings headed off the line and onto his own bar to deny us send secure Reading the points at the Madejski.
