Speedster Rory Loy is among a number of targets Ipswich ran the rule over this weekend.

Loy scored with a spectacular overhead kick as Carlisle comfortable dispatched non-league Alfreton out of the FA Cup 4-0 at Brunton Park.

The 23-year-old former Rangers forward has pace and power and an appetite for goals and has forged a useful partnership with Middlesbrough reject Lee Miller in the Cumbrian side`s attack.

Town are understood to have looked at Loy more than once already this season, along with a number of other Championship and SPL clubs.

Another player supposedly on Paul Jewell`s list of possible acquisitions is Newport County`s 19-year-old defender Andrew Hughes, with Coventry and Charlton also linked.
