Sam Parkin has been told that he will be out of action for three months following his surgery on a broken leg he sustained against Reading.

Ipswich Town’s physio told the official site that the Ipswich striker ‘has had two screws inserted into his ankle’ adding ‘the operation went well. Surgery had to be done because the fracture went down to the joint surface and you can’t risk any movement. It means he will be in plaster for six weeks and then there will be another six weeks to recover after that so you are looking at three months before he is back playing again.’

Royle tried desperately last week to bring in a replacement striker on loan from the Premiership but failed to agree any deal before the transfer deadline last Thursday.
