Our Welsh Wizards Could Decide Our Fate

If we are to get one of those elusive automatic promotion spots then we might have to depend on our two Welsh wizards both staying fit and both staying on top form.

They have become an essential ingredient in our tasty recipe for success, and more recently, Wes Burns is again back to his very best. You could argue that from day one Nathan Broadhead has performed excellently, and although I was concerned when they were both called up into the Welsh squad, it seems to have worked in our favour.

Broadhead getting his first goal for Wales in such a crucial game away in Croatia must have been good for his self-belief, and forgotten man Wes Burns also got onto the field in that one, and his confidence levels appear to have been renewed. It’s all good.

The two goals we scored at Derby County were a result of some intelligent football from both players. Broadhead found Burns with a brilliant long-range pass, and Burns had the wherewithal to find Conor Chaplin in space, and Town went in front.

The second goal was created by Burns, who raced clear off his marker and ran half the length of the field before riffling in a shot that the Derby County keeper could only parry into the path of Goerge Hirst, who with his back to the goal managed to swivel and strike in a flowing movement of superlative football precision.

We need our Welsh internationals to stay fit because they are two players that we would seriously struggle to replace. Our squad may be big and strong, but our Welsh wizards have a unique playing style that gives us an important cutting edge at times. They are bang-in form at exactly the right time, and I suspect they will have a big influence on what happens between now and the business end of the season.
