Trialist Shane O’Connor has done enough to earn himself a spot in Ipswich’s tour squad, but Pablo Counago and Ben Thatcher both miss out through injury.

O’Connor bagged two goals as an Ipswich XI thrashed Gorlestone 8-0 last weekend. The former Liverpool youngster operates either at left back, midfield or up front. I’ve never heard of such a versatile player.

However, the bad news for Town is that Pablo Counago still misses out with a groin injury that has kept him out of the first two pre-season friendlies against Finn Harps and Brentford. Ben Thatcher also misses out as he recovers from a long-term knee ligament problem.

Ipswich play Irish side Waterford tonight (kick off at 8pm), before the Blues play Cork City, Roy Keane’s hometown on Sunday. Kick off for that game is at 4pm.

Full tour squad: Balkestein, Bruce, Delaney, Garvan, Lisbie, Martin, McAuley, Norris, O’Connor, Quinn, Rhodes, Shumulikoski, Smith, Stead, Supple, Trotter, Walters, Wickham, David Wright, Richard Wright.
