Pablo Counago has turned down a move to Championship rivals Swansea.

The Swans had agreed a £300,000 fee with Ipswich for the Spaniard, but the Welsh side revealed on their website yesterday that Pablo doesn’t want to join his fellow countryman Paulo Sousa at the Liberty Stadium.

‘We spoke with the agent, but Pablo has turned down our offer,” revealed City chairman Huw Jenkins.

‘It seems that the player is happy to stay at Ipswich. Pablo’s decision to turn down our offer means we will now start to pursue those options.’

Ipswich will probably still look to offload a striker, most likely to be Kevin Lisbie, with manager Roy Keane looking to bring in a 20 goal hitman.
