Ex-trialist Cesar Navas is edging closer to a move to Ipswich after impressing in pre-season. The Spaniard is currently recovering from a broken metatarsal.

Cesar Navas, who currently is on the books at Malaga, makes up a seventh of the Segunda Division club’s wage bill. The Spanish club are understandably keen to offload and they have set an asking price of around £150,000 for Navas.

He does not have an injury of foot injuries despite suffering a broken metatarsal in his only pre-season game for the club and wages are not seen as a problem for the Tractor Boys. The Blues have been looking at numerous central defenders in the past few weeks.

Ipswich have been looking for some cover for Jason de Vos and Alex Bruce, as Ipswich only have Fabian Wilnis and Chris Casement available since Richard Naylor is ruled out for at least three months.

Worth the risk to sign him? Do we need a new centre-back? Discuss this on the forum! It’s easy!
