Goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin has signed for Milton Keynes Dons following his release by Ipswich Town, whilst Shane O’Connor also looks set to leave the club this summer.

McLoughlin, who did not make a senior appearance for Town, was one of the 12 players released at the end of their contracts this summer. The 19-year-old has now put pen to paper on a deal with MK Dons having enjoyed a successful trial period with the League One club.

Meanwhile left-sided defender or midfielder O’Connor could become the 14th player to leave Portman Road this summer. The 20-year-old, who joined from Liverpool’s academy in 2009, looks unlikely to be a part of manager Paul Jewell’s plans and has since joined League Two newcomers Crawley Town on trial with a view to a possible permanent move. Released midfielder Alan Quinn is also undergoing a trial with Championship rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Despite the departures, Jewell’s squad looks set to grow in the next week with the Blues reported to be on the verge of two possible signings. Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale and Arsenal striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas have both been linked in the past few days, whilst the Town boss also recently confirmed his interest in Sheffield United’s Ched Evans.
