David McGoldrick has said he’s ready to return to action in tomorrow’s friendly against Cambridge United having recovered from his hip injury.

Having picked up a hip flexor problem whilst out in Ireland in training ahead of the victory over Shelbourne, he is yet to play a part in pre season games so far this summer, but all that should change tomorrow as he expects to get some kind of run out.

Daryl Murphy made his return from injury in the victory over Colchester, and with new signing Adam Webster also taking to the pitch, it means Mick McCarthy is only waiting on Giles Coke to return to fitness now following his knee surgery over the summer.

There are no comments about how long McGoldrick might get, or even if he is guaranteed to be in the squad for Cambridge, but you would think it likely as he looks to step up his own levels ahead of the coming Championship campaign.
