As Ipswich Vital Football first reported on Sunday evening, Cesar Navas’ move to Ipswich is looking evermore likely as Ipswich have now had a bid accepted for the ex-trialist.

A fee was agree late yesterday afternoon, and should the deal go through, Ipswich are expected to pay £100,000 up front with another £80,000 after a set amount of appearances.

Navas, who has been keen on a move to England, is as friend of Pablo Counago and Ipswich has been seen as his likely destination.

Chief executive Derek Bowden, made a trip to Spain last week and although he initially denied any discussions took place with Malaga, the club seem to have retracted those statements.

Navas makes up one seventh of Malaga’s wage bill but personal terms are not seen as a problem for Ipswich, who are keen to sign a centre-half.

As Navas won’t be back in action until October after cracking a metatarsal in his only trial game in pre-season for Ipswich, boss Jim Magilton may try and utilise the loan market for some cover at the back.
