Speed. That is the different between Ipswich and Preston according to Town striker Jon Stead. Prior the 3-2 defeat to the Lilywhites, he said: ‘We know it’s going to be a very tough game at Preston.

‘They have a very good home record and they will probably come out of the blocks at 100mph.”

And because Jon Stead never lies, it appears that the Preston catering staff must be using some funky ingredients to get them to produce that speed.

Green Street has reached the south coast. That is, according to Southampton manager Mark Wotte, ahead of their 3-0 destruction of Town at Portman Road.

The Dutchman revealed that team bonding exercises are taking place in local late night fight clubs in Southampton to increase camaraderie.

He said: ‘I am very proud of my team and the way they have been fighting for each other in the last few weeks.’

Finally, Jim Magilton is still on the lookout for a new keeper to replace the outgoing-on-loan Shane Supple. It seems that the moment Jim gets a player in the building, they see the surroundings and make like a banana and split.

The Town boss has reverted to slightly more man-handling techniques in a more forceful attempt to get potential keepers to stay at the training ground.

‘We can’t let Shane go though until we have tied up a keeper as cover for Richard Wright,” said the Irishman.

It sounds a bit kinky to me. Rumour has it, this is how we secured the deal of Nick Colgan last season. The poor man still has rope burns.

That`s all for this week? I know? it`s upsetting. But you only have to wait a week longer for another thrilling edition of news which is made up from thin air.
