It’s Pointless Town Playing For A Draw!

Now Mick McCarthy has made it clear that Ipswich Town will look to win away at Blackburn Rovers tomorrow and hope that if they do not succeed, then they can at least hang on for a draw!

The Football philosophy is correct and he said similar things before we faced Wolves in our last away encounter and we managed to grab a very valuable point but under some duress.

Something similar will be hoped for tomorrow because we cannot rely on those other results going our way – in fact I am convinced that they won’t!

Derby County are also live on Sky when they take on Reading at home and you can only see one outcome there and that is a victory for the hosts.

The same goes for Wolves against relegated Millwall – although I cannot see them winning this by a large margin and a large margin is what they need so they are the very least of our worries.

But of course if Derby win and we draw then The Rams take fifth spot at our expense and that might just be a blessing in disguise as the chances are that we will miss Norwich – for the moment!

Brentford I feel sure will be triumphant too when they take on another recently relegated side in Wigan Athletic. They will need to win by probably two clear goals but I think this is also achievable, given the fact that the visitors are dead and buried.

And what a dramatic fall from grace they have suffered over the last couple of years!

It is in some way quite ironic after they received such an enormous parachute payment from the Premier when they went down.

So then I think our three rivals are almost all destined to win and I will put my money where my mouth is by betting on them all!

As for Town, I have visions of a game with goals and a 2-2 draw is not beyond the realms of possibility in this one I think.

This will not be good for the nerves but if we can take a point then those other Championship games will not matter anymore.

Our manager Mick McCarthy knows that it is pointless to play for a draw so I should hope that the blues are firing on all cylinders from the off tomorrow – if only to avert too much squeakie bum time which is the norm when you follow the Town of course!

A 2-2 draw would also account for a goal from Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede and hopefully too another one for our very own Daryl Murphy and on fire striker Freddie Sears!
