It’s Derby Day All Over Again

I am a bit of a superstitious type, so the idea of playing such an important football match on April Fool’s day fills me with trepidation! You might say this is ridiculous, as the game kicks off in the middle of the afternoon, and given Town’s six-game winning run, we should be up for this. But how will that prolonged international break affect us?

We have not conceded in seven, so things are certainly looking good going into what is considered to be one of Town’s most challenging fixtures between now and the end of the season. That said, there are always bumps in the road, and my worry is that it might take us some time to gel tomorrow. I am sure our manager Kieran McKenna has put his troops through a tough series of training sessions, but it is not the same as playing competitive football. They will, of course, have practiced more set pieces too.

Apart from writing this regular blog, I posted my first Ipswich Town vlog this evening under the channel Being Frank On Ipswich Town, and I predicted that Town would win very narrowly 1-0. That would mean eight games without conceding a goal, but whatever happens tomorrow, our defence has done us proud of late. It’s all good there.

The name of my new youtube channel is a slight variation from my own website, which you can find at www.beingfrankonfootball.com and also includes a page reserved exclusively for the Town. It is an exciting time to be supporting the Blues, and it is important that Ipswich get something from the game tomorrow because I cannot see any of our closest rivals slipping up again. It’s been a great week for Town so far, and what is more remarkable is that the other promotion candidates have collectively shot themselves in the foot! First the Owls, then the Tykes, and then the Owls again!

Norwich City loanee Tony Springett has been ruled out with an ankle problem and remember that the Rams have lost more games under Paul Warne in the last six weeks than they had in the first four and a half months of his tenure at Pride Park, so they will be more determined than ever to right their wrongs at home tomorrow afternoon.
