Is Kieffer’s Move Moore Or Less A Done Deal?

Contrary to what manager Mick McCarthy has said on the subject, it seems certain that striker Kieffer Moore will be on his way and the only thing in question is, in which direction?

McCarthy insisted earlier in the week that Moore was in his plans and might even play some part at Fulham, but then the bids came storming in and Town suddenly had a change of heart.

In fact, I think they were prepared to sell him anyway but by giving the impression they wanted him to stay, it upped the asking price and now lower division sides are queing up for the player’s signature.

The natural choice for Moore would surely be Rotherham United where he has performed so well, and was at one stage recently, he was the leading scorer in English football. He already has 13 goals to his name and has enjoyed his time there so it seems only natural that he would want to return.

But it is Peterborough who have apparently outbid Rotherham – although it is still not a done deal, as there are complications with regard to how the transfer fee is to be paid. Peterborough would like to pay in installments but Town want the fee in full!

The next question that arises is why are Ipswich in such a desperate rush to sell a player who is obviously brimming with confidence, when we are struggling at the moment for goals?

We have only scored two goals in our last four Championship matches and have gained just one single point. Surely this is the time to test the water? If he fails again, it would not stop these clubs continuing a bidding war because they know he can do the business at their level so this way everyone wins!

Town could sell him before the window closes and the likelihood is they would get a better price because we all know that the closer we get to the transfer window slamming shut, the crazier the fees tend to become, so why not wait a little? It is simple economics which relates to supply and demand.

I have a suspicion that this is anything but a done deal. Rotherham may come back again, having had two bids already rejected and if they do, will Peterborough wade in once more?

An insider at Town has it that the fee that was accepted stands is 750,000 pounds, which the Blues would want to reinvest but until the clubs can reach complete agreement, nothing will be signed.
