Ipswich Town’s Ten Commandments

If the Blues are to get out of League One in a hurry, then they must follow these ten basic commandments and captain Luke Chambers can lead by example!

  1. Thou shalt not let thyself be ruled by international breaks and keep the momentum going by playing on!
  2. Thou shalt not constantly change team tactics and formations just because one can.
  3. Thou shalt adhere strictly to the Marcus Evans five-point plan.
  4. Thou shalt find a new exciting forward that can compete with Norwood, Jackson and Sears.
  5. Thous shalt send Alan Judge, Myles Kenlock, Toto Nsiala and Janoi Donacien to pastures new.
  6. Thou shalt find a new central defender.
  7. Thou shalt avoid serious injuries to key players.
  8. Thou shalt keep Luke Woolfenden and Flynn Downes.
  9. Thou shalt avoid unnecessary suspensions for stupid or reckless behaviour.
  10. Thou shalt start on the front foot and keep the momentum going.

Now then, if we adhere to the basic principles of football, I see no reason why we cannot get promoted second time around. Manager Paul Lambert has admitted to his mistakes so now is the time to learn from them – and fast!

To get our of this division takes guts and commitment and a bit of luck as well. Our squad is still a bit lopsided with too many non-scoring midfielders and too few out and out attacking players. Our defence also needs reinforcements, and the aim has to be to start as we mean to go on, with exciting attacking football that produces the right results.

If we do all these things and develop our younger players in the process, then we have every right to believe that promotion is just around the corner.
