Ipswich will start their pre-season games at League of Ireland side Shelbourne.

The game on Saturday, July 6 at Tolka Park will be the climax of a week’s training in the Republic.

Ticket details are yet to be announced for the 5pm kick off in Dublin but the stadium was big enough to cope last time Town were there.

Mick McCarthy will be the fourth manager to head for Ireland for friendlies after George Burley, Jim Magilton and Roy Keane.

McCarthy told the club website: “It`s not so much a tour because we`ll just play the one game at the end of the week but it`s a chance for the players to work in a great environment and bond over the week.

‘Being away together also gives any new players we have the opportunity to settle in.”
