Has Mick Still Got A Trick Or Two?

Each game now presents a new challenge and tomorrow the blues take on Wolves away, knowing that victory would get rid of one of their challengers for those play-off places and our manager is looking for just that!

Mick McCarthy is a very pragmatic sort of chap and he knows that by winning tomorrow he could get rid of the threat of his former club taking the Tractor Boys play-off place.

Normally of course you would expect his mantra to be all about how a point is always a point worth having but that Huddersfield loss has changed his mindset and some would say at long last!

McCarthy is of the view that merely playing for a draw tomorrow would bring with it some major risks. Wolves are desperate for a home victory having dropped points of late and defending too deeply he believes would play into their hands.

As he pointed out from his knowledge of managing there, the home crowd can be very vociferous and if they were to score an early goal then the blues would find themselves really up against it. It is vital therefore that Town don’t sit back but instead press for an early goal themselves.

We have of course had some of our best away results by scoring early and who can forget our quick fire start against Brentford that knocked the stuffing out of the home side when we went three up by the break!

Tomorrow Town will field a similar side that triumphed against Cardiff on Tuesday and once again, if there are changes then it is likely to be in midfield.

Jay Tabb could be recalled at the expense of Stephen Hunt – although his all energy style might be just what the Town need tomorrow afternoon?

Jonathan Parr might get a look in at some stage and I would expect to see Kevin Bru and perhaps too Darren Ambrose on the bench.

Sadly Luke Varney is still unfit and David McGoldrick, Luke Hyam and Noel Hunt are long term absentees.

The match is live on Sky Sports One which gives blues supporters from around the world the chance to see the Town in action.

Let us hope that the television voodoo that had plagued Ipswich almost every time we get this kind of media attention does not rear it’s ugly head again!

Personally I think it may well end in a draw but even that would not be so bad providing we don’ t lose!
