Despite injuring his groin in the 0-0 draw with Watford on Saturday, loan star Giovani dos Santos will still be joining up with the Mexican national side.

In only his third game for the club, the 19-year-old was taken off just 26 minutes into the match as a precaution. He will now team up with the rest of the Mexico squad for their forthcoming games against Costa Rica and Honduras.

Manager Jim Magilton explained the situation to the club site: ‘Gio has a groin strain on his left side.

‘The Tottenham medical team have spoken to the Mexico national side and they want to take a look at Gio themselves so he is flying back there to be assessed.’

Ipswich will probably allow Giovani all the time he needs to recover, as their next game isn’t until 4th April.
