Young star Owen Garvan has insisted that he is happy at Portman Road despite Premiership interest in the Irish U21 international.

Garvan said that he has asked for slight amendments to the contract offered that would see him stay until 2011. His current deal expires next summer, he would be allowed to join other clubs for a small compensation package as he is under 23.

However, that compensation package is likely to be much less than what he could go for this summer and it is no surprised that Ipswich are in a hurry for his future to be resolved.

Garv said: ‘I`m happy here at the moment. I have a year left on my contract, so I`m not in a great rush.”

While it is reassuring that the 20-year-old has said he is happy at Portman Road, it is slightly concerning he has took this long to sort out his future.
