Former Fulham and France international Steve Marlet, is to have a week trial with Town after his departure from French Ligue 1 side Lorient.

Marlet is looking for a new club after his release from Lorient in the summer and if things go well then Town may fill that void.

Marlet has had a successful career having played for Marseille, Lyon and Fulham who paid £11.5 million for his services a few years ago. During his star-studded career he managed to notch up 23 caps for France.

Sylvain Legwinski was Marlet’s former team-mate at Fulham which is perhaps one reason why Marlet is on trial with Town.

Jim Magilton told the ITFC website: ‘Steve will spend the week with us and we will look at him and he will look at us,

‘He has played at the highest level in club football and is also an experienced international so he has a good pedigree.’
