Reports claim that fans favourite Alex Bruce has been handed a two-year deal by Ipswich, as his current deal is up at the end of the current season.
Fans have been calling for the defender to be signed up for some weeks now, many finding it hard to understand why he hasn’t been offered a deal any sooner.
Bruce was one of manager Jim Magilton’s first signings at Portman Road in 2006, and made his debut for the Republic of Ireland earlier this season. He was reported to have been recommended to Italian trio Napoli, Genoa and Fiorentina by Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni.
Bruce has missed seven games this season through suspension although he scored his first goal for the club against former side Birmingham City.
