In what has been a remarkable few days in the history of Ipswich Town football club, we hear today that Town have added two more names on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

One of them is a familiar face with the return to the club for the third time of inspirational Welsh international midfielder Jonny Williams and he has been accompanied by left back Zeki Fryers.

They were both recruited today from Crystal Palace, just before the loan deadline slammed shut and they will of course be valuable assets in the blues quest to reach the Premiership.

Jonathan Williams needs no introduction and the 21 year old will begin his third loan spell with the club.

The downside is that because of strict football league rules, a player cannot be signed twice in the emergency loan window in one season but Town argued that because his previous loan spell was curtailed through injury, they were entitled to have him back and thanks to a lot of documentary evidence provided by the club to the Football League, eventually they accepted this elongated request.

Williams will continue where he left off the last time the club signed him, which means he will be with the club for another 53 days. Sadly however, if Town make a Wembley play-off final his third stay with Town will have expired but he could play in the play off semi-finals.

Town’s other new recruit 22 year old Zeki Fryers is also from Palace and he may be a little less familiar to the Town faithful.

He was formerly with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur and this season has been on loan at Rotherham.

The 21 year old certainly has potential though and is cover for Tyrone Mings who is suspended for the next two games having accumulated a total of ten bookings. He was sold by Spurs to The Eagles for 5 million this summer but like Williams, has struggled to get into the Premier league team.

These two late signing will be a real boost for the blues and should enhance considerably the chances of the Tractor Boys finally wrestling free from the Sky Bet Championship at long last.

With the news that Teddy Bishop and David McGoldrick are nearing full fitness, this is another good day to be an Ipswich Town fan!

Next up is leaders Bournemouth at home and it is expected that a bumper crowd will turn up at Portman Road to cheer on the blues!
