Town fans will see this match as a point gained rather than two points lost in Saturday?s encounter after a grandstand finish at Portman Road.

Danny Hayne?s first goal for the club, in the dying stages of the game salvaged a vital point for the blues as they looked to end a dismal record of only one win in their last 10 games.

The game kicked off as a spectacle, though, as early as the second minute with Paul Furlong attempting to jump Price in the Town goal ? only succeeding in landing on the Welsh international?s head.

With Furlong lucky to escape with only a yellow card Price was left requiring lengthy treatment for his head-wound.

A lengthy period of box-to-box action followed, culminating in the first goal of the afternoon.

In the 26th minute, Rangers produced some neat play down the left flank, with Ainsworth providing a cross for Moore to head in at the near post.

However, Town were by no means disheartened by this turn of events and managed to win a number of corners and free kicks around the Rangers box; Town going close through De Vos and Juan on no fewer than four occasions.

The end-to-end play continued ? and promised more goals ? with De Vos and Forster both missing with headers for Ipswich whilst Bean buried an excellent chance for QPR into the North Stand.

The promise of more goals was fulfilled on the half-hour mark, with De Vos notching his first goal of the season; heading home from a Currie flag kick.

The equaliser seemed to lift the Blues, as they continued to threaten from set pieces; Currie providing the greatest threat from his deliveries, forcing Royce in the QPR goal into some sublime saves.

Despite the continued Ipswich pressure, Rangers regained the lead in the 41st minute, Ainsworth once again providing, for Furlong this time to convert at the far post. Furlong, being extremely lucky to still be in the game after his lunge on Price.

Royle rang the changes at half-time, moving Naylor up front to partner Forster, with Wilnis moving into the centre of defence.

The second half continued where the first half left off, with Bean almost extending Rangers? lead from the off.

The action continued at the other end, with Juan unlucky to have his shot from 5 yards blocked by Furlong.

However, the main threat continued to belong to QPR and Ainsworth. The Rangers man?s run and cross being met by Furlong, forcing Price into another smart save.
Town loanee Gavin Williams was forced off through injury in the 70th minute, to be replaced by Magilton, as Royle continued his search for an equaliser.

De Vos continued to provide Town?s biggest threat, forcing a save out of Royce in the 80th minute from a Currie corner, followed by Naylor heading over from another set piece.

Town continued to press as the clock ran down, and as all seemed lost, Royle introduced Youth Cup winner Danny Haynes in hope of salvaging a point.

Haynes made his impact quickly after coming on; heading over from a Sito cross as Town made their presence known around the QPR box.

The breakthrough finally came, however, in the 88th minute, with Magilton sending a wonderful cross through to Haynes, who headed the ball past Royce from 12 yards.
