Young Blues Can’t Stop Winning!

It is three wins out of three for our young guns and the future is looking decidedly bright for the kids that could develop into first team regulars in the years ahead!

The Town`s U18s team made it three wins from their first three matches, as they defeated Cardiff City 2-1 at the University of South Wales yesterday morning.

Midfielder Tristan Nydam put the young Blues in front in the first half but the Welshmen struck back after the break and in the end it was Flynn Downes who secured all three points for the blues.

His wonderfully well crafted free kick won the game, to the delight of a few Town fans who had made the trip to Wales for this one.

Former player and now manager of the under 18 squad Alan Lee must be satisfied with the progress that both he and his team have made this term and although it is very early days in a long campaign, this has been a very impressive start.

They also seem to have a great fighting spirit because in their first two matches they had to come from behind to win!

And it was midfielder Tristan Nydam who got the winning goal against Watford after an early strike from Declan Daniels was cancelled out.

Nydam, who also netted in last week`s 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest, stood out and deserved his goal after an impressive display in central midfield once again.

We must remember too that these days the squad is without Ben Morris and Andre Dozzell, who picked up England under 18 caps earlier in the week and they are also without McDonnell,Blanchfield,Benyu and McLoughlin who have moved up this season to the under 23 squad.

Sadly Gerard Nash is not having such a good time of it as their head coach because they have yet to record a win.

Below is the under 18 team that defeated Cardiff City yesterday.

Ipswich Town U18s: Wright, Meldrum, Marshall, Woolfenden, Murrell, McKendry, Downes, McGavin, Cahill, Nydam, Daniels.
