Long-serving defender Fabian Wilnis has said that he hopes Dutch giants Feyenoord will provide an opposition to his testimonial game at Portman Road.

The fans favourite was granted a testimonial to thank him for his hard work in his close-on ten years at Ipswich. He saw the pain of play-off defeats, the ecstasy of promotion, the agony of relegation, administration and the more recent high of the Marcus Evans takeover, but stuck by the club throughout.

Wilnis said: ‘My dad was a steward there and they were the club I supported as a boy. My family are Feyenoord fans so it’s a club that is close to my heart, just as Ipswich is obviously.

‘We are still in the early stages of sorting things out for my testimonial year but if things go to plan, the match will take place as part of the pre-season build up at the start of next season.’
