Williams Joins Ipswich

West Ham United’s Gavin Williams is to join Ipswich on a month long loan.

The Welsh international joined West Ham in 2004 for £250,000 from Yeovil, but the 25 year old has failed to make an impression at the club. He has not figured for the team in the Premiership this season, although did have an outing in their 4-2 Carling Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday.

‘Gavin is a player we know all about. We scouted him when he was at Yeovil but we couldn’t afford him, but we’ve been keeping an eye on him ever since.

‘He is very pacy and energetic, and apart from playing in midfield he can also operate as a wide player on either flank. His pace is very attractive to us.’
