Jonny Williams has said that he doesn’t know what the future will hold for him in 2014-15 but he certainly hasn’t ruled out a return should the wind blow that way.

With manager Mick McCarthy already waxing lyrical about the young midfielder, he said himself to the Official Site that Ipswich does have a special place in his heart now following the welcome and support he was given during his time with us, and he was delighted to be awarded the Goal of the Season gong for his strike against Derby County.

‘I loved every minute of my time at Ipswich. It was good to finish the season on a high against Sheffield Wednesday but it was a real shame we didn’t make the play offs. I can’t thank the manager enough for giving me an opportunity and I’d like to thank everyone else at the club for making me feel so welcome.’

The Welshman has now returned to Crystal Palace having spent two months with us, and he goes on to say that it really was a good experience for him and he felt like he’d been at the club for longer than he was such was how he enjoyed his time, and again he couldn’t thank the supporters either either.

As for the future though, and again McCarthy has made no secret of the fact he’d love to see him return next season, Williams is open to options but obviously his first aim is to try and break into Palace’s first team squad properly next season.

‘I’m going back to Palace now and looking forward to that. My main priority is to get in the team there but who knows what will happen in the future. I don’t really know where I will be playing my football next season.’

Given his performances and his impact, hopefully Portman Road as manager Tony Pulis will see that we’ve been very good to him, and another season of regular football is in his interests and Palace’s as he continues to develop into the talent he looks very much capable of becoming.
