Who Will We See At Town Next Season?

Well, I will quite naturally give you my point of view on the good, the bad and the downright ugly!

Today we begin with THE GOOD!

1. Tom Lawrence: ( The best loan player Town have ever had.)

In this category there is little doubt who we would include here. Tom Lawrence is the player we would all probably most like to keep but football’s financial reality dictates that he will be playing some role in the Premier League next season and if not, with his parent club Leicester City, then with someone else up there.

2. Bartosz Bialkowski:

Our Polish keeper has excelled again this term with a string of outstanding performances, which must have attracted the interest of a number of clubs and I would not be surprised if the ‘big fish’ come up close to take a closer look. I hope he stays put.

3. Tommy Smith: Yes, we know he has been injury prone of late but he has been a very loyal servant to the club and apart from his defensive duties, wades in with a few goals too. Who could forget that strike in the playoffs against Norwich when we were down to ten men!

4. Luke Chambers:

He has been berated by some fans for some inept performances but it is not his fault that he was being played out of position. Thankfully Captain Fantastic is back in his natural berth and there has been a marked improvement in his performances since. He wears his Ipswich heart on his sleeve week in and week out.

5. David McGoldrick:

It has been a long time since he was at his very best but if he can stay injury-free then he may get back to the days when he was Town’s top scorer and that was before Daryl Murphy saw the light!

6. Freddie Sears:

He is a workaholic and when he is played down the middle he scores goals and that is why manager Mick McCarthy must stop playing him as a winger, as he did in the first half again against Forest.

7. Brett Pitman:

An unorthodox striker in many ways but I like him and we all know that he can score some great goals. He has had a mixed season but has not played as much as I or indeed he, would have liked.

8. Adam Webster:

By Town’s spending standards he was an expensive buy and was looking good until a serious injury curtailed his season. Good to see him back briefly against Forest yesterday and next season, if he can remain fit, will be a good one for him at Town I feel.

9 Myles Kenlock:

He is still learning his game but is getting more of them these days and that has to be good. I think we will see a lot more of him next term too and I for one am looking forward to it!

10. Josh Emmanuel :

He is another wingback of real promise who I am hopeful can push on next season because he certainly has real technical ability and just needs more game time in my view.

11. Steven Taylor:

I would love to see him stay at the club because he has real talent and is a good organizer of defences. Injuries have been his achilles heel throughout his career but if he can stay fit, then who knows what the future holds?

12. Grant Ward:

He has been splendid for the Blues this season, scoring a hat-trick on his debut and being named as manager Mick Mccarthy’s player of the season. I like him alot and and he could have a bright future at Town I would hope.

13. Jordan Spence:

I hope Town can tie a deal up with this lad because he adds a new dimension to our play and has improved game on game, during his loan spell and deserves to be given a short term deal in my view.

14. Danny Rowe:

This winger has real promise and there were signs yesterday against Nottingham Forest that he is starting to come to terms with life in the Championship. I think we will see a lot more of him next season although he needs more work on his right foot!

15 Andre Dozzell:

Like his Dad he scored on his debut and just like his father, has a bright future in the game. He certainly has the ability but next season he must really push on I feel and cement a place in the Town team. He is still a little lightweight for the Championship and its vigorous nature so back to the weights my boy!

16.Emyr Huws:

I have been impressed with Emyr in almost every game he has played. After Tom Lawrence, he surely has to be our best loan signing of the season and I would dearly love to see him in a Town shirt again next term. Has a good eye for a pass and a good eye for goal – which is something we have lacked in midfield recently.

So then, they are the players that I really think we should try to keep and tomorrow we will look at the best of the rest.
