What If It All Came True?

The Russian Activist Emma Goldman once said, “When we can’t dream any longer we die.” That is a harsh fact of life, and I have no intention of kicking the bucket any time soon!

Stuart Watson, writing today in the East Anglian Daily Times, tried to measure the potential quality of this very talented Town squad. He said that on paper Town were very good, but sadly, football is not played on paper. We have finally got the wheels in motion now so it is time to finally change gear.

Interestingly, Watson pointed out that the Town squad contains 12 players who have had more than 20 Championship starts to their name. And more impressively perhaps than that, is the gentle reminder that the Blues have five players on their books who have played in the Premier League – now that is worth noting! Stuart Watson should be praised for his resourcing.

The five in question are Tom Carroll, Sone Aluko, Rakeem Harper, Kyle Edwards and Bersant Celina. When you look at the appearances to goals column, you quickly begin to see why they are no longer in the top flight of football. Just 4 goals in 80 plus appearances will not set exactly the world alight.

That said, some of them are still quite young, and I have been very impressed with what I have seen so far from former West Brom forward Kyle Edwards! He looks like a player of real quality, and we all know what Bersant Celina can do!

So then, we have finally made a start, and sometimes, from small things, big things develop. With two home games to look forward to, there is every chance we can pick up more points, and ideally, more victories! We have to get into the winning habit sooner rather than later, and we now have the perfect platform to address this.

When the supporters get behind the Tractor Boys Portman Road, it can be an intimidating place to visit. If we win again against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, we can expect the place to be rocking when we take on Doncaster Rovers the following Tuesday night. If we play to our full potential, then even those automatic promotion places are not entirely out of reach.

I will leave the last word to the American statesman Colin Powell who nailed it. “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic. It takes sweat, determination and hard work to realise it.”
