What I Think Will Happen Tonight

I suggested that Town would win a 3-1 win in my monthly March predictions, and after our convincing 4-0 victory over Burton Albion on Saturday my mind remains unchanged. I suspect that Lief Davis may find himself benched tonight because, after the heavy knock he took at the weekend, manager Keiran McKenna might not risk him.

That would probably mean that forgotten man Janoi Donacien would replace him, and this would not be such a bad thing. He is arguably Town’s most underrated squad member, and remember, he worked almost telepathically with Wes Burns for most of last season. I have always admired him, and he probably deserves to be in the team.

McKenna has hinted that he might rest one or two others this evening because it was a tough game against a very physical Burton Albion side, and quite a few of the team took some heavy knocks. I would not be surprised if Marcus Harness started tonight, and there may be a place too, for Cameron Humphries, at the expense of Massimo Luongo, who might find himself on bench-warming duties this evening – along with Conor Chaplin. It is only a hunch, but he was looking bruised and battered as the final whistle blew versus the Brewers. Even Dominic Ball might find the bench tonight too.

I think this game will be more challenging for the Blues because lightning rarely strikes twice, and I see Town struggling to break down a very resolute Accrington Stanley defence at Portman Road this evening, and we might have to wait until the second half to break their resilience.  I can see Nathan Broadhead on the scoresheet again, and McKenna might start with George Hurst instead of Freddie Ladapo, because he likes to rotate his strikers on a regular basis and he will want to keep Hurst match-fit, in what will probably be another very physical encounter. And because of what might occur in the game between Plymouth Argyle and Derby County, we badly need to win this one!
