We Have To Make Winning A Good Habit

Three wins out of four under new boss Kieron McKenna, and suddenly our season finally seems to be moving into top gear. It is has taken us far too long of course, but we knew it would take time to bed all these new players in, and sadly, time was never on Paul Cook’s side, and he lost his job because of it.

Yesterday, Town showed both grit and determination to turn things around after they went behind to a rugged street-wise side in Accrington Stanley. The visitors came with a game plan and it almost worked, but the Blues pulled their socks up as the game progressed and engineered two goals of exceptional quality to win the game and make it nine points out of a possible twelve since McKenna arrived.

Wes Burns could have had a hat-trick but was profligate in front of goal, but his excellent finish when brilliantly played in by Bersant Celina made those errors of judgement a little more forgivable.  The winner from Conor Chaplin was as a result of some quick thinking from Sam Morsy, whose quickly taken free-kick had the Accrington defence rocking. Janoi Donacien expertly played the ball into the path of Chaplin, who turned in space before rifling his shot into the roof of the net.

We have to maintain this winning habit now. Momentum will take us up this league and fast, and we have a game on Tuesday at struggling AFC Wimbledon that might just get us another three valuable points. We have to believe we can win this one, and I see no reason why we can’t.

Young striker Tyreece Simpson is back from his successful loan spell with Swindon, after scoring 11 goals in 30 games – including another one yesterday. James Norwood looks like he, and we, want him to stick around a little longer which is also very positive news! Conor Chaplin says he loves our new gaffer, and I am starting to love him too.
