Fancy running your own Ipswich Town fansite? Then why not apply to become the new website editor of Vital Ipswich!

I have been working as site editor for just over a year now having taken over in July 2010, and it has been great fun covering Ipswich Town for the Vital Football network. In that time, I’ve had the privilege of covering Town’s remarkable Carling Cup run of last season, including surely one of the most famous cup upsets in the club’s history. I’ve seen some truly staggering matches – both of the good and the bad kind! – I’ve seen players and managers come and go, and I’ve also had the chance to bring you all the big stories this summer as Paul Jewell begins what may yet prove to be a highly successful season at Portman Road.

However, it is my sad duty to reveal that I am to step down from my role as editor at the start of October. Having taken up the position to gain what has proved to be some fantastic experience of football journalism, I am now looking to get rolling on a career as a sports writer and will soon be starting study towards a postgraduate degree from one of the top journalism courses in the country. Given the time and commitment that will be required for my studies however, I feel it is regretfully necessary for me to vacate my responsibilities as editor of Vital Ipswich and pass on the torch to the next willing candidate.

With my course getting underway in early October, I plan to continue as editor for the next few weeks until after Town’s home match against Brighton & Hove Albion on 1 October. Once I have completed the match report for that game, I will be stepping down on 2 October to hopefully allow a new editor to take over ahead of the two week international break, thereby giving my successor time to settle in before the Blues are back in action.

As the Vital Ipswich Fantasy Football Leagues and Prediction League are already underway, I will continue to manage the leagues and update the prediction scores after stepping down. However, the new editor will be responsible for all frontpage content of the website, as well as managing and moderating the club forums.

So, who is interested in becoming the new editor?

Are you a budding writer or journalist, or are you interested in website editing? Are you over 18? Do you have experience in writing news and match reports? And most importantly of all, are you fanatical about anything and everything Ipswich Town?

If you feel you would make a good editor for Vital Ipswich and would like to apply, or if you already have an Ipswich Town fansite that you wish to move over to the Vital Football network, simply send me an email at ipswich@vitalfootball.co.uk to register your interest.
