Before Jack Colback had arrived back at Portman Road last week, we asked fans on Vital Ipswich who you thought had been Roy Keane’s best signing so far this season.

There were 7 players to choose from in total. 19-year-old Conor Hourihane was the first signing of the summer from Sunderland, followed by Cardiff defender Mark Kennedy, before keeper Marton Fulop joined his former team-mate Hourihane at Town just in time for the start of the season. Since then, Darren O’Dea, Andros Townsend and Jake Livermore have all come in on loan deals, whilst Jason Scotland was signed on a permanent deal from Wigan just before the transfer window closed in August. They have each seen varying degrees of first team action, and with varying results.

Asked who you thought had been the best of this summer’s arrivals, you voted as follows:

2% – Conor Hourinhane
0% – Mark Kennedy
27% – Marton Fulop
55% – Andros Townsend
3% – Darren O’Dea
10% – Jason Scotland
3% – Jake Livermore

It appears the overwhelming majority have voted in favour of Andros Townsend – must be the name! Townsend has impressed since joining on loan from Tottenham, setting up goals and looking lively down both wings, in particular proving too hot for Alex Bruce to handle! His sending off on only his second appearance against Crystal Palace was perhaps the only low point of what has otherwise been a very successful spell.

Townsend is followed by Fulop, claiming over a quarter of the vote having been a regular, reliable presence between the sticks since his arrival. Scotland also received a healthy 10% which is no doubt down to his four goals since arriving from Wigan, though he could and probably should have had more by now. Darren O’Dea and Jake Livermore each weighed in with 3%, whilst bringing up the rear are Conor Hourihane and Mark Kennedy with no votes – though statistics suggest Hourihane has picked up 2%, this seemed to fluctuate curiously from 0% to 3%, and having barely featured for the first team since his arrival, this is most likely down to a statistical anomaly!

Do you agree that Andros Townsend has been Roy Keane’s best signing, or has another player impressed you more? Have your say by registering to post comments or join our forums:
