Town’s Transfer Plans Hit

Mick McCarthy’s summer transfer plans have been dealt a couple of hefty blows.

The Blues lost out of signing free agent Joel Grant when he chose to join League One side Yeovil rather than come to Portman Road, with wages thought to be a factor.

McCarthy has been given a strict budget and he has not been helped by a distinct lack of genuine interest in either transfer-listed Michael Chopra and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

Getting cash for the duo is proving a stumbling block and Town also need to get the under-performing pair off the wage bill in order to be able to bring in more players.

It comes to something when Yeovil are a more attractive option than the Blues and I’m not sure that the Financial Fair Play is the real reason for such a stingy budget and it could prove to be a false economy if we miss out on a promotion challenge again.
