Town Slump To Tykes

A lapse in concentration, slack defensive marking and a total inability to make a decent impression up front ended Town’s half decent run of home results.

Burnely were patient, dealt with Town’s organised two lines of four and eventually Scott Arfield headed in a Kieran Trippier cross into the far corner in the 80th minute.

Even though the SuperBlues matched the league leaders they could not finish, although David McGoldrick might have done better after being teed up by Daryl Murphy’s header.

Ipswich keeper, Dean Gerken, was forced off in the 39th minute and replaced by Scott Loach.

The Clarets might have had a penalty when Sam Vokes was brought down by Luke Hyam but then Ipswich had an even better shout for a penalty when Aaron Crewel saw his goalbound shot deflected by a Jason Shackell arm but the protests from the home players were waved away.

Burnley took the lead with 10 minutes to go when David Jones fed Trippier on the right-hand side and his low cross was headed in by Arfield.

A bit hard on Town who stay mid-table where we will probably sat, even in MM goes.
