Town Must Make Nelson Oliveira Eat His Words

The rather flippant remarks uttered by Norwich striker Nelson Oliveira have added extra spice to this weekend’s derby and Town must ram his remarks down his throat on Sunday afternoon.

Captain Luke Chambers reminded him that there was a reason why the Blues had three stars above the club badge and it relates to winning the old First Division in 1962, The FA Cup in 1978 and of course the Uefa Cup in 1981.

Yes, it was a long time ago but Norwich have been around since 1902 and in 115 year of trying they are still to win a trophy and their new Chairman Ed Balls, is a failed politician with two left feet!

Now when it comes to celebrity status, The Canaries have more than their fare share. Delia Smith and Stephen Fry play important roles at boardroom level so even if the club has aspirations to be good at football, their real success appears to be in the good old entertainment business.

On Sunday, Town have a chance to make Nelson Oliveira eat his words and I am quite sure that when captain Luke Chambers gathers his for players the pre-match team talk, those words by Oliveira will be ringing in their ears!

On the fitness front, there is encouraging news for both sides. Ipswich Town midfielder Tom Adeyemi could play against former club, after two games out with a hamstring injury and there is every chance that Joe Garner will make the starting eleven too.

Norwich also look to welcome back Josh Murphy, who missed the game against Hull but has returned to training this week and Marco Stiepermann came off the bench against Hull, and is now available to start, after training all week with no ill-effects apparently.

And Norwich player Ivo Pinto said ‘It’s going to be a good war and an exciting match between two good teams. We are very good away at the moment and hopefully we can get the three points.’

I really believe that this game will make or break our season. If we win and it does not matter how ugly, then our mind set will change for the rest of the season.

Anything less will simply not do.
