Town Look To Cement Promotion Place

This is a six pointer if ever there was! Second placed Ipswich take on third Placed Derby County with just two points dividing the teams.

There should be another big crowd at Portman Road tomorrow and apart from the enforced absence of Conor Sammon, our manager has a full squad to choose from.

It will be interesting to see if cup hero Darren Ambrose gets a start and the same applies to his best mate and former blue Darren Bent who could start for The Rams?

Steve McClaren has worked wonders since he took over from Nigel Clough a season or so ago and Mick McCarthy is convinced they will either be promoted automatically, or via the play-off places come the end of the season. They have a very strong squad with strength in depth in all departments so this is a tough test for the blues.

The Rams expect to have Johnny Russell,Chris Martin, Craig Forsyth and Lee Grant back tomorrow in what promises to be another nail-biting affair that could be decided by the odd goal.

Jay Tabb might be recalled for the Tractor Boys and the manager has more attacking options now that lucky omen Noel Hunt is back with the blues thankfully.

It will be interesting to see who he chooses in the wing back department with both Jonathan Parr and Tyrone Mings fit again.

The midfield is probably where any strategic changes are likely to be made and Cole Skuse and Luke Hyam may be there to beef up the midfield but with Paul Anderson also in good form and Teddy Bishop improving with every game, this area of the team is hard to call.

David McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy will be up front as usual for the blues and Cameron Stewart and Alex Henshall might find some room on the bench; along perhaps with Stephen Hunt and Dean Gerken I would have thought.

It will be another big crowd tomorrow and Town will be hoping for an early goal to get the fans firing on all cylinders too.

I am sure Mick McCarthy would gladly take a point but would love to win it so here’s hoping our splendid home form continues!
