Commentary of Ipswich games could switch back to BBC Radio Suffolk on a full-time basis, with SGR understood to be looking to pull out of the three-year contract to provide commentary.

Commercial station SGR has been bought by Global Radio, and none of their current stations run commentary on football matches. SGR is to be rebranded as Heart FM in January.

‘We will carry on broadcasting home and away for the remainder of this season,’ said John Chittenden, part of the press at Global Radio.

SGR has already suffered a number of complaints about the poor standard of commentary this season, with many fans also unable to listen to home games with a poor range of coverage.

Radio Suffolk still provide away match commentary, despite being overlooked as provider of coverage for the next three seasons by Ipswich Town.
