Town Boss Favourite McCarthy Meets Evans

Mick McCarthy is about to be named Blues boss according to a number of outlets.

Vital Football understands the former Wolves, Sunderland and Millwall boss flew from Gatwick to Dublin yeterday to meet with owner Marcus Evans and the final details of a contract are today being thrashed out with Simon Clegg.

McCarthy is the sort of tough, no-nonsense manager the Blues need right now. He can deal with the immediate problem of staving off a relegation fight, kick backsides in order to instil discipline, fight and passion back into the players and longer term sort out the soft underbelly which has afflicted the club for too long now.

Matt Holland is likely to be involved in a coaching capacity, which would also serve to appease the many disgruntled Town fans.
