Bad News For The Fake Blues

I can’t believe it! No sooner has manager Paul Lambert recruited two quality players onto our books, and the fake blues are at it again. I am coming around to thinking that some so-called supporters actually want Ipswich to fail.

I rather suspect that they would happily take a few more Town defeats so that they could remove the gaffer. How dumb is that? They are so afraid of losing their pride if he turned out to turn the cards on them that they would be content to see our new loan signings underachieve.

We all know about the fickle nature of a so-called football fan. It is well documented. They would prefer to see their team lose than for them to lose face. I recall it happening under Sir Bobby Robson too and although we cannot compare the two, our second England manager was Canary-free which might have aided his cause.

I glanced through the TWTD comments page, on the news that Josh Harrop had joined 21-year-old Luke Thomas on a season-long loan deal. Sadly, I was not surprised to see the kill-joys were at it again – not content with the fact that we have hired two quality midfielders, who have excellent credentials. Oh no, that is not good enough for the Lambert out brigade.

Casanovacrow summed up the feelings of the fake blues. ‘In the long term, if we fail to get promoted, these loans don’t look all that smart to me. We seem very short-sighted.’

Ipswichbusiness was even more forthright. So, this transfer window we have signed a left-footed winger who plays on the right and an attacking central midfielder who can play wide left.
Why do I have this sense of impending doom?

Well, I will tell you why Mr Ipswich Business, it is because you are desperate for your dreams to be realised so that you can tell your mates, “I told you so.” I still believe that Paul Lambert can turn things around and I would like nothing more than to see all those doubters eating lots of humble pie – or ideally supporting Norwich instead!

The fairweather fraternity is a commonplace occurrence everywhere in football, but it seems especially apparent here. I understand those who have lived their lives as Town supporters and have got nothing for their buck but to condemn a manager who has suffered an injury crisis of gigantean proportions is just not fair.

We find ourselves in eighth place in League One which in itself is remarkable, given our injury list and we are just one point off the play-offs with games in hand. If we call this failure, then what is success?

A very accurate write up Frank, i’m
with you 100%. I’ll come here more often as apposed to all the Fake blues on TWTD.

Thankyou Simon B. Keep reading, please! I just cannot get my head around all this negativity. It is killing the club we love, and I won’t be a part of it. I am delighted to read that you agree with me, and better still that you were the first to post before the harbingers of doom and gloom were stirred into action!

Just wait. It is bound to happen!

Good points made here. I too believe that Lambert has had an unfair trial. As A club we should be all pulling in the same direction and not pulling each other apart.

  • Keith Isaacs says:

We are all entitled to our own opinion on Paul Lambert’s running of the club. When he joined the club remember he was on a run of successive failures. It’s obvious watching the games the players are not fully committed take for example Ward when he joined the club he was outstanding but you can see he’s not the player he was, this applies to most of the players in the squad. Anyone who’s ever played the game can see the tactics are not working and you can see the players are not comfortable with it. Having said all this i hope im proved completely wrong and will be the first to say well done Paul Lambert.

  • Jimmy Skinner says:

Garbage. Lambert is a waste of space and that is why we are playing such naff football. Evans should get a grip and send him packing before we end up in non-league football under his watch.

His tactics are clueless and he was a big fail even before he came here. Two injury prone loan players won’t save his bacon so he should already start looking for the exit door.

  • Bue Badger says:

So, what was it about the feeble relegation, 11th placed finish in the third division and (at time of writing) 11th place in the third division that convinced you that Paul Lambert is still the man for the job?

  • Josh says:

What a load of complete bollocks.

Yes Frank I agree it’s “remarkable’ ! Remarkable that a team that regularly beat the best and provided International players is now in this travesty. Still sinking….I’d say success is winning games with attractive and exciting football. Sadly Ipswich are in the third tier of English football and playing the sort of football my son’s U 13’s would be embarrassed about. There are deep problems at Ipswich Town and they need addressing now ….. not when its too late and leaving us to have the same arguments albeit in a lower division.

You couldn’t be more wrong Frank. Lambert’s win ratio is around 32%. For Ipswich Town in L1 that is diabolically poor. He finally set the team up correctly against Blackpool, basically just putting round pegs in round holes, for once, and we looked good. I thought to myself, we’ll get at least a point against Posh now. However, when i saw the team, i knew we would lose, and correctly predicted a 2-1 loss. To change a winning team the way he did was ridiculous. Then his sidekick Taylor comes out and says, ‘We brought Chambers and Ward back in to freshen things up’. He must be taking the mick. We are now 11th and going backwards under you beloved Lambo. If you are ok with that, you are not a genuine Ipswich fan.

  • Matt says:

What a load of absolute rubbish. I’m beginning to think Frank is the so-called ‘fake fan’ he references to here, after failing to see that this incompetent, arrogant, foolish moron is not going to turn this around, yet make things worse.

Hilariously bad article which does not paint the picture at Portman Road whatsoever.

I suggest Frank only refers to himself as a ‘fake fan’ as clearly he hasn’t got a clue about Ipswich Town Football club or football itself for that matter. Fool.

  • Elmswell Blue says:

Between Evans and Lambert they are killing Ipswich Town FC, since Evans took over the club we have had to put up with Keane, Jewell, McCarthy, Hurst and Lambert. The fans have stayed loyal with the club over these past 14 years, but Lambert is the last straw with many many fans cancelling DD on there season tickets. We may unbelievably be in a good position for the run in to a play off position but have no faith in Paul Lambert to take this club any further. I would call him the Tinkerman who swops players around after each game, no wonder the players looked like strangers against Peterborough last night.

  • rickw says:

Yes we have had injuries, but that’s just the latest in Lamberts excuses after it being Paul Hursts team, Covid, red cards…. He has a lower win % than just about any other manager in our history and he’s done most of it in a lower division that the others!

We had a good start to this season, but our form in the following 19 games places us 17th in the table – closer in points to relegation to L2 than the play-offs.

It’s that form which is why most fans have no faith that Paul Lambert can get us promoted no matter what players we sign. I would like nothing more than him to prove me wrong and get us promoted, and I’d love to know what you’ve seen to make you believe that’s possible
