Veteran Dutch defender Fabian Wilnis has been told that he will not be offered a new deal at Portman Road this season after nearly 10 years at Ipswich.

Wilnis who has served nearly ten years at the club notched up nearly three hundred appearances in the Blue of Ipswich after signing in the summer of 1999 for £200,000. What a bargain.

The 37 year-old has played just over 20 times this season for Ipswich and picked up one red card. In his entire Tractor Boys career, he scored six goals, with his best two probably against Norwich and Manchester United.

Wilnis has been part of the coaching team of the reserve side for the latter part of this season and has said that he would like to get into management one day. Is a coaching role on the cards one day> After all, he did say he would love to manage Ipswich, the club he loves and the one that loves him.

Ten years is the norm for it, but surely he is deserving of a testimonial? Thanks Fabian, and good luck.
