Reported target Kevin Lisbie has insisted that he is happy at Colchester United and has no plans to move – unless the club want him to.

The U’s top-scorer said ‘I haven’t spoken to anyone and I’m not just going to up and leave for any old club. Right now I’m a Colchester United player and I’m looking forward to kicking-off in the new Weston Homes Community Stadium.’

However, the Jamaican international did conceded that he may still kick the season off at Colchester’s new ground: ‘I can’t guarantee anything. If another club comes in for me and the two teams agree a fee, who knows where I could be by the time the season gets under way.

‘But it would have to be a southern club because there’s no way I would move up north to a Burnley, Huddersfield or Barnsley. I sat down with the manager and chairman at the end of last season and said I would only move to the right southern club because I have no wish to uproot my family.’

Ipswich certainly fall into the bracket of another southern club, but it is unlikely that the frontman will make the move along the A12 given Town’s ability to attract a bigger name to Portman Road.

  • Weel, Ipswich would be the ideal location for Lisbie, and in my opinion, he would be a fantastic signing, even if it is with the intention of playing him as third or fourth choice striker. All I can say, is it would give us the strength in depth we have now been lacking for a few seasons.

  • how can it b a fantastic signing if intention of third or forth choice jesus we need some1 who can step up 2 the plate now not b there if we have 2 or 3 injuries

  • Well seems like he wants to stay, just hope he show’s some loyalty, which you don’t see much of nowadays in football.

  • strength in depth!!!!!?? Pease understand..

LISBIE IS PANTS!! not even good enough for towns reserves!!
He had one good season thats it! I gaurntee he wont even Score 17 goals in League 1!!!
