Sweet Revenge For Blues Against Palace

Never mind the quality – feel the quantity.
Mick McCarthy’s rejuvenated Blues wreaked revenge on a poor Palace side by hammering in three goals.
Town defended superby for the first 35 minutes, epitomised by a superbly timed tackle by Richard Stearman, which forced Jon Parr to leave the pitch injured.
While Palace had a decent amount of ball they never tested Scott Loach in the Town goal until late on.
The SuperBlues got their break in the 38th minute when Luke Chambers won the ball, fed Guirane N’Daw who pumped it forward in hopeful fashion.
Palace keeper Julian Speroni made a right royal mess of the loose ball outside his area and Frank Nouble pounced to then roll ther ball into the net for his first Town goal since signing from Wolves for £200,000.
If that wasa bit fortunate then the second was anything but.
N’Daw headed a ball forward and Aaron Cresswell, the only Blues player to have played every minute of the season, scored an absolute cracker from 25-yards.
Cresswell, in his 150th career league game, stretched to hit it left-footed past Speroni, in what was probably Town’s goal of the season.
Then, from the restart, Nouble got his second and Town’s third as Palaces’s defence once again went missing.
Nouble nipped in and beat Speroni and Town held on in the second half to almost certainly secure Championship football for a 12th successive season.
Luke Hyam almost made it four for Town while Kevin Phillips hit a post for Palace.
No matter, Town won and revenge was very, very sweet.
